Troubleshooting
Find your symptom below. If it doesn’t help, write to gpsrcompliancemanager@gmail.com with your store address and, if possible, a screenshot.
The widget does not show on my product page
The widget shows what is saved on the product. Check in this order:
- Does the product have compliance data? Open it in Manage Products. The Compliance Set column should say Set, which means a manufacturer is assigned. If Hide widget if no data is present is on in the block, an empty product shows nothing. See Product Compliance Data.
- Is the block saved in the theme editor? Adding the block is not enough; click Save. Check the Widget Setup page or the dashboard widget card.
- Is it in your published theme? Changes in a theme that is not published don’t reach your shoppers.
- Is it in the right template? The block must be on the product template your product uses. If you have several product templates, add the block to each.
- Is the widget limited to EU visitors? With Hide for non-EU switched on in Settings, visitors outside the EU won’t see it. In the theme editor you see a notice, but shoppers don’t.
- Did you change the data a moment ago? Reload the storefront page in a private window. Browsers and Shopify may cache the page briefly.
Theme has no app blocks
The widget needs an Online Store 2.0 theme that supports app blocks. Older (“vintage”) themes without a JSON product template can’t use app blocks, and the widget can’t be added to them. The Theme compatibility report on the Widget Setup page says Online Store 2.0 theme required in this case.
Switch to an Online Store 2.0 theme, for example one of Shopify’s free themes. The widget then works as described in Widget Setup. There is no manual installation for older themes.
The app cannot tell whether the widget is installed
The dashboard’s GPSR Widget Status card can show:
- Permission Required: the optional theme access permission is missing. Click Grant Theme Access and approve the prompt. The app and your storefront work without it. See Installation.
- Not Installed, although you can see the widget in your store: the check only reads the standard product, collection and home page templates of your published theme. A block in an alternate product template (for example
product.special) is not found. You don’t need to do anything. - Access Required: the app could not read your theme. Click Refresh. If it stays, contact support.
Fields are missing or saving fails right after installation
If entities or fields are missing in the editors, or saving fails right after installation, reload the app first. If the problem stays, write to gpsrcompliancemanager@gmail.com with your store address and a screenshot. The support team can recreate the app’s definitions; your existing data is not changed.
The app asks me to upgrade
You used a feature that is part of a higher plan: bulk editing and entity CSV (Basic), a second automated rule or EU-only visibility (Pro). Nothing was changed in your store. See Plans & Features.
The dashboard numbers don’t match the product list
- Click Sync in the Data Sync Status card to refresh the numbers.
- A product only counts as having GPSR data when a manufacturer is assigned.
- The filter No Compliance Set (and the dashboard’s Show Products Without GPSR Data) can miss products that already existed when you installed the app and were never edited in it. To see every product without a manufacturer, use Bulk Editing and look at the Manufacturer column, where empty cells show “–”.
My manufacturer keeps changing back
If an automated rule is enabled for the product’s vendor, the rule writes its manufacturer, responsible person and importer again every time the product is updated. A different value you set by hand only lasts until the next update. Set that field to Do not set in the rule, give the product a different vendor, or switch the rule off.
A bulk update or rule did not finish
- Only one bulk update per store can run at a time. Edit all matching in bulk editing and Apply to existing products of a rule share it. If the app says another is running, wait a few minutes and try again.
- A message like “Finished, but Shopify refused N of the update calls” means some products may not have changed. Run the same update again; products that already match are skipped.
- For bulk grid saves, failed rows are highlighted. Hover the product name for the reason, fix it and save again.
My entity CSV import failed
- The file needs an
entity_typecolumn (manufacturer,responsible_personorimporter) and at least one ofentity_name,entity_address,entity_email,entity_website. - Check that e-mails are valid and websites start with
https://. - The result lists the rows that were not imported, with row numbers. Fix them and import only those rows again: every import creates new entities, so importing the whole file again creates duplicates.
The guarantee notice shows twice
You have both the Guarantee notice block and the Guarantee notice (global) embed active. Remove one of them. The Setup check on the Guarantee page warns you about this. See Legal Guarantee Notice.
The guarantee notice is missing in the cart drawer
Blocks on the cart template never appear in a drawer. Switch on the Guarantee notice (global) embed for the notice, and the GARAN label (drawer) embed for labels. See Legal Guarantee Notice and GARAN Labels.
A GARAN label won’t save
The message says what is missing: “Confirm all three conditions first.”, “A GARAN label requires a guarantee of more than 2 years.”, “Only whole and half years are allowed, for example 3 or 2,5.”, “The guarantee duration has to be a number.” or “Enter a valid https:// link to the guarantee conditions.” See GARAN Labels.
